We sourced our 2020 vintage’s fruit from our original grower located in Napa County’s Pope Valley. With its sandy loam soils and cool evenings, Pope Valley has earned the reputation for producing some of the Napa’s finest expressions of this variety. The response from our earlier vintage had us thinking as a dear friend told me long ago “Never quit a winner.”
The 2020 growing season began with a warm dry winter extending into a rare very cool Spring. This slow start to the growing season and a very dry Summer yielded to plenty of sunshine for a strong finish up until our Mid-September harvest. Yields were below average, but the harvested fruit was of outstanding quality.
